An Intersting Bluesky Thread about Dreamwidth, Livejournal, and a Security Incident from 2018

denise wrote a long thread on Bluesky a few days ago about a security incident that happened several years back (that was ultimately traced to livejournal) and how it affected Dreamwidth. You can read the thread here.

Some of you probably already know all about this, but I was out of the loop so it was all new to me and I found it really interesting.

Ah, yes, that incident. (As if it were discreet and not still-ongoing.) It affected a lot of people who wanted to cross-post to both sites, but eventually that got broken, and so did the importer, and now, yeah, we have to treat LJ as a hostile entity.
